Literature Text

Did I drive you away?
I know what you'll say
You say, oh, sing one we know

Her heart broke in two,
Just as the agent, the object he held in his hands, full of fire, as she was.
He held it, laughing, in her neck.
The flames licking around her skin, his calloused hands muffling her screams and cries

But I promise you this
I'll always look out for you
That's what I'll do

The skin curling up at the edges, the burning in her heart transferred to the metal lighter he gripped tightly in his hands
In the end her love had harmed her, in both ways, eating her from the inside out, and now,
From the outside in.

My heart is yours
It's you that I hold on to

The flames now lapped at her windpipe
Her fate was sealed now, the flames had burned her last way to breathe
The sickly orange scent of burned flesh filled her nostrils and steeped into her captor’s skin
He did not flinch, he wore a twisted grin of dark amusement

That's what I do
And I know I was wrong
But I won't let you down

Her eyes became consumed by the flames
He had won now, everything was lost, slipping away and the flames dragged her back
They could no longer stay open, she gave up with a choked gasp, laced with smoke and singed skin, crumbling away like burned paper

(Oh yeah, yeah, yes I will)

He let go, she had stopped moving, the life and love in her eyes washed away by the flames
Without his arms around her head she fell like a puppet without strings to the floor
He walked away, he didn’t look back
Her body limp and finished on the cold, unforgiving floor
The abandoned love pooled in a red sticky puddle near her head
The burning desire left a smoldering dark ring in the side of her neck were it had left

And I saw sparks
Yeah I saw sparks
And I saw sparks
Yeah I saw sparks
